Welcome to Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana !!

With over 5000 members across various practice groups, the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana (PSGH) is a registered professional association of pharmacists who have registered by the Pharmacy Council of Ghana under the Health Professionals Bodies Act, ACT 857.

The PSGH was founded on 19th December 1935 as the Pharmaceutical Society of the Gold Coast and incorporated on 2nd September, 1936 with its headquarters at Selwyn Market Street, Accra. Section 9 of ACT 64 gave statutory recognition to the PSGH. The PSGH was registered as a recognized professional body under the Professional Bodies

Decree, 1973 (NRCD 143) on 30th July, 1973. At its inception, the membership of the Society was twenty six. By virtue of ACT 64, every person registered as a pharmacist in Ghana becomes a member of the Society. Membership until then had been optional.

The Society currently has regional branches (wings) in all the hitherto ten regions of Ghana, five (5) practice groups and two interest group with their respective chairpersons and executives. The chairpersons of the various branches (wings) and interest/practice groups as well as representatives from pharmacy schools and Ministry of Health constitute the Governing Board of the PSGH.

    The following are the practice groups of the Society:
  1. Community Practice Pharmacists Association (CPPA)
  2. Government and Hospital Pharmacists Association (GHOSPA)
  3. Industrial Pharmacists Association (IPA)
  4. Association of Representatives of Ethical Pharmaceutical Industries (AREPI)
  5. Academic, Social and Research Pharmacists Association (ASRPA)


  6. The interest groups are:
  7. Lady Pharmacists Association of Ghana (LAPAG)
  8. Early Career Pharmaceutical Groups, ECPG (formerly Young Pharmacists Group)
